A chance—and consequential—meeting brings her to the wealthy Tilneys, who invite her to stay with them at their home, Northanger Abbey. But the many Gothic horror novels have already given Catherine expectations about the estate, and her imagination sparks wild theories and questions that expose her naïvety to her hosts. Ultimately, Catherine must decide how to parse fact from fiction without losing so much of what endears her to the Tilneys.
