Somewhere along the 37th parallel, Captain Grant of the Britannia has been lost at sea. An expedition sets out from England to find him, with only vague clues scrawled onto a message in a bottle. But the message can be interpreted any number of ways, so there exist a myriad of possible destinations.

The would-be rescuers, Lord and Lady Glenarvan, set out to find Grant. Along the way, they meet and enlist the help of a number of third parties, and experience trials and tribulations from man and nature alike.

Jules Verne penned over 60 installments of his Extraordinary Voyages series. In Search of the Castaways is the fifth.
