Zak here. I've been quiet the last few days, in no small part due to the shock and anger at Russia's invasion of Ukraine. While I am thousands of miles removed from the danger, my colleagues are not: many of Prismatext's core developers—men and women whom I call friends—are based in Ukraine. Presently, they are safe, but we have little solace given that the conflict continues.
It's hard to feel that any one of us could move the needle towards a peaceful resolution—many times since Thursday I've been overwhelmed by helplessness and despair. But in those moments, I remember Tolkien:
"The road must be trod, but it will be very hard. And neither strength nor wisdom will carry us far upon it. This quest may be attempted by the weak with as much hope as the strong. Yet it is oft the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world: Small hands do them because they must, while the eyes of the great are elsewhere."
I implore you: Help Ukraine! Even small gestures can instill hope, raise morale, and turn the tide. At the bottom of this post, there's a small list of vetted resources that accept donations.
3 things you can do right now:
- Send encouragement to our developers using our ticket system. We will send them on!
- Donate! If you make a donation, send us the receipt, and I'll send you a book of your choice. Additionally, 100% of the purchases of Dead Souls by Nikolai Gogol (a Ukrainian-born Russian) in any language will be donated to charities helping Ukrainians.
- Spread the word within your community.
